My Journey in Education: A Passionate Path

I began my teaching career in 1st grade, where I spent nine wonderful years helping young learners take their first steps in education. Those early years were filled with joy and discovery, and they ignited a lifelong passion for teaching within me.

After nearly a decade with first graders, I transitioned to teaching 4th grade, where I dedicated eleven years of my career. My experience was further enriched by teaching split classes, including four 4th/5th grade splits and one 3rd/4th split. These experiences taught me the importance of adaptability and allowed me to cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring that every student received the attention and support they deserved.

I recently completed my tenth year as a 5th grade teacher. Teaching 5th grade was a rewarding experience, adding depth and breadth to my teaching journey. Having taught for 30 years, I am now retired. I look forward to my new role in continuing to work within the educational system. I will greatly miss working with students directly.

In total, I had the privilege of teaching for 30 years, each year bringing new challenges and triumphs. Throughout my career, I had the privilege of experiencing countless memorable moments. The excitement I felt when my students finally grasp challenging concepts is truly rewarding. Positive interactions, sharing stories, and participating in dress-up days were just a few of the many ways I connected with my students, fostering a joyful and engaging learning environment. Teaching was more than just a profession to me; it was a calling. I was passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of my students, and I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to nurture young minds every day.ac

My teaching style was centered around creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students felt empowered to explore and grow. I believe in the power of interactive learning, incorporating real-world examples and hands-on activities to make lessons come alive. By fostering open communication and encouraging questions, I aimed to build strong relationships with my students, understanding their individual needs, and adapted my approach to suit diverse learning styles. My goal was to inspire curiosity and a lifelong love for learning, helping each student unlock their potential and achieve their personal and academic goals.

Shining teacher mom

Throughout my teaching career, I experienced numerous shining moments that reaffirmed my passion for education. Many particularly memorable instances were when students, who had struggled with a challenging math concept (or any other concept), finally grasped it after weeks of personalized guidance and innovative teaching strategies. Witnessing the joy and confidence on each of their faces was always incredibly rewarding. I also received heartfelt feedback from parents expressing gratitude for the positive impact I had on their children's academic journeys.

As the Math Science Olympiad coordinator for my school for half of my career, I had the privilege of nurturing students' curiosity and competitive spirit. Additionally, organizing student play performances for the school and parents for 11 years, along with "Writing the Constitution" performances, were highlights of my teaching experience.

My involvement in numerous math, literacy, and parent nights further allowed me to foster community engagement and support student success. These moments, along with the countless smiles and "aha" moments in the classroom, remind me of the profound impact teaching has on shaping young minds and inspiring a lifelong love for learning.

y own education hist

My educational background was instrumental in shaping my teaching approach. With a bachelor's degree in education focusing on math and child and family studies, I was well-equipped to teach all subjects in an elementary school setting. Additionally, earning a master's degree with an endorsement in ESL enabled me to effectively support students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
